Reasons To Live
By Karina
Francisco
Is living a life with
no love, living?
No,
it is slowly dying
As we all began to do since birth.
Do we fight to live so that we can wake up tomorrow, and go to our
Job, although it may bore us out of mind?
Do we fight to live so that we may yet again hear
Screaming voices, shooting bullets, silent mockery?
Do we fight to live so that we may yet again feel
Desperation, desolation, pain?
No,
We fight to live so that we may see the innocence
Of our children’s faces.
We fight to live so that we may
Witness the belligerence in the victory of a hero.
We fight to live so that we may hold in embrace
The sweet splendour of one’s own beloved.
I am to simply sleep, and wake up to a world I am not prepared for.
I am to arduously survive without a definite purpose.
I am to continue to the next chapter in the book we call life.
Until another shall save me from this
Intricate battle of sweet sorrow,
Here shall I dread my demise.
Here shall I dread my judgement.
Here shall I dread my death.
Like a surrendering war that will never cease to exist,
I must fight like a blind soldier
Confused, unable to see,
Until I gain victory over the turbulent sea
We call life.
I am but a teardrop in this ocean of secrets.
I am but one flute in this orchestra of melancholy.
I am but one thread in the elaborate tapestry.
We are merely prisoners of our own misery
And so until we are able to humbly free ourselves,
We are violently chained down on the count of ignorance.
So put an end to your ignorance,
Put an end to your selfishness and
So you shall put an end to your misery of self-pity.
