Code of Silence
By Gary Nickerson

A sudden crackling sound
that interrupts the air
another person dies
another family in despair

Some know who they are
these stalkers of death
yet their voices fall silent
like the victimís last breath

Itís the code of silence
thatís known in the hood
you dare say a word
cause itís well understood

Go about your business
watch what you say
cause if you donít
it could put you to lay

Chorus:
Itís the code of silence
That we all understand
Keep to yourself
And you wonít see the man

It the code of silence
And itís well understood
Keep to yourselfÖ

Is the message from the hood
