Toronto, September 29, 2025 - At a ceremony in the Toronto Reference Library, filmmaker and activist Paul Nguyen congratulates Chuckie Akenz, a pioneering Vietnamese-Canadian rap artist from the Jane-Finch area.

Akenz, who gained viral fame in the pre-YouTube era for music videos like "You Got Beef?", was being formally recognized for two decades of community work. He received the 20-year Ontario Volunteer Service Award from the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism for his long-term dedication to a single organization.
