Toronto, October 15, 2025 - The Toronto Feral Cat
Coalition organized a large-scale TNR (trap-neuter-return)
"blitz" in the Jane-Finch and Driftwood areas to humanely manage
the community's large feral cat population.
The initiative, timed to align with Feral Cat Awareness Day
(Oct. 16), involved volunteer trappers capturing cats to be
transported to clinics run by Toronto Animal Services for
spaying or neutering, vaccination, and a health check before
being returned to their colonies.
The report includes interviews with Bill Howes of Community Cats
Toronto (a coalition member group) and volunteer Sandra Bernick,
who discuss the importance of sterilization to reduce
overpopulation.
